This year Domino marks the 20th anniversary of Queer Zagreb. Since the first Queer, Domino has hosted many artists, activists and theoreticians who paved the way for the idea that a different art, a more open city and a different view on diversity are possible. The association provides support and works with organisations, institutions and initiatives from different sectors, notably with all LGBTIQ+ initiatives in Croatia and the region, in promoting queer identity.

20:00 La Bête
Concept and performance: Wagner Schwartz (Brazil / France)
Artistic advisor: Maíra Spanghero
Object: Reproduction of Lygia Clark’s Critter (Bichos) sculpture
Sponsor: International Dance Forum
An interactive performance “La Bête” is an hommage to sculpture series Bichos (The Critters, 1960) by Brazilian visual artist Lygia Clark. By manipulating the plastic replica of the sculpture which allows the handling of different body parts through its hinges, Wagner Schwartz invites the audience to participate. Additionally, he proposes his own body as the object of manipulation. The correlation of an inanimate object and the living body brings the performative focus on decisions, choices and actions of the audience in the leading role.
Following the performance of “La Bête” in 2017, at the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo an extensive hate campaign arose targeting the artist, the Museum and cultural workers for a destructive and demoralized work. One of the possible answers to this event is the working continuity and public reenactment of “La Bête”.
Wagner Schwartz is a performer, choreographer and writer born in Brazil and based in Paris. At the centre of his work, he problematizes the boundaries between body and object, tradition and singularity. He received many awards for his work, including the APCA (Association of Art Critics, São Paulo) awards for the best art project “Piranha” in 2012, and Rumos Itaú Cultural Dance program, 2000, 2003, 2009 and 2014. He curated the 10th Sesc Dance Biennale in Brazil. He collaborated as a performer with international film and theater directors and choreographers; Rachid Ouramdane, Yves-Noël Genod, Pierre Droulers, Judith Cahen, Masayasu Eguchi, Lorenzo De Angelis, among others.

In “Anda, Diana”, the dancer and acrobat Diana Niepce portrays the reconstruction of herself, after a fall (to which she was left with a spinal cord injury), in an honest dialogue between body and mind, between logic and chaos, until she built the dancing body. In this piece, she proposes to question what the norm is, challenging prejudices and ideas that society has regarding the aesthetics of bodies. Here, the disability, although present, does not take the place of the victim of the system. Rather, this non-standard body is positioned as a revolutionary.
Diana Niepce is a dancer, choreographer and writer from Portugal. She graduated from the School of Dance (ESD), Erasmus at Helsinki Theater academy (Teak), and Art and Communication at New university of Lisbon (UNL). She is the creator of the pieces “Raw a Nude” (2019) with Mariana Tengner Barros, “12 979 Days” (2019), “Duet” (2020), “T4” (2020) and “Anda, Diana” (2021).
