Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos is one of the most enigmatic personalities of Croatian contemporary art. In its outstanding features and uniqueness, during the last decade his work has been recognized and highly esteemed on the international art scene. Art historian, curator, critic, and member of the neo-avant-garde (i.e., the proto-conceptual Gorgona group) Mangelos, in his specific negating tradition of noart and anti-poetry writes manifestos that hardly represent, proclaim, or demand anything: they usually consist of questions and absurdities interwoven in multilingual play.
